FOR YOU

I would do anything, —

pluck a rainbow

out of the sky

for you to wear

as winter pajamas,

and when it gets

unbearably hot,

I would encase

you in a cocoon,

cooled by fanning

butterfly wings.

And, if wolves come

knocking at our door,

I’ll carry you on my back

to an enchanted cave

where we’ll survive

on my secret stash

of pistachios, dark beer

and infinite kisses.
